auction for the weavers

Jenny Jones is holding an auction to raise money for the weavers in India and Nepal who have been drastically affected by the COVID-19 crisis.

All proceeds from the sale of Jenny’s stunning Ruby Room Atlantic 240 x 300cm rug, valued at $8,900, will be used to purchase food parcels for the weavers.

Weavers are paid by the square meter for what that they weave in their villages so constant work is crucial. They have no access to social welfare during this difficult time and the proceeds from the sale would feed more than 200 families for a month.

The Circle of Compassion team in India is already preparing the food parcels so they are ready to be delivered to the families without delay.

The details of the food parcels are listed below.  Even if you’re not looking for a new rug right now any donation that could help supply a food parcel would be greatly appreciated.

Once the food parcels have been delivered to the families will send you photos of the weavers and parcels so can see how much your support has helped.

if you would like to place a bid or make a donation please email aucti[email protected] or call 08 9286 1200. sundays closed.

An opening bid of $7,300 was placed on the 15th of May.  The auction is running until the 30th of May.

Childhood memories of 1950’s film sirens, delicate lace and silk, glass beads glittering in the night enticing you into a secret parlour and dreams of what mysteries lie beyond the beads. These thoughts were Jenny’s inspiration for the award winning Ruby Room design where a mysteriously feminine and organic form lies behind the beaded curtain.

Winner of Best Modern Design in the Carpet Design Awards at the Domotex International Rug Expo, Ruby Room marked a departure from the expected and a realisation from Jenny that there was no longer a need to follow traditional design constraints.

Ruby Room 240 x 300cm took four women working for four months to hand-knot this piece of art.
