Jenny Jones is an Internationally Award Winning Rug Designer. Our luxurious handmade designs are exclusive to Jenny Jones Rugs and are regarded as “Art On The Floor”. All rugs are crafted by hand using the highest quality hand-spun wool and pure silk. With over 400 rugs available at our Perth and Melbourne Showrooms, and the option of creating your own custom bespoke designs, Jenny Jones and her team of experienced designers will find the perfect rug for any project.
Our story
As a dyslexic designer, Jenny has always been more of a visual storyteller. Growing up in the 60s, dyslexia wasn’t a recognised term, and there was little understanding or support for people who had it. Jenny learned through observation and imitation. She discovered her passion for rug making in 1995 while living in Turkey with her young family.
“In the 90s, I spent time in Turkey and met girls who, though illiterate, told their stories through motifs woven into rugs, almost like tapestries of their lives, using beautiful colours. This deeply touched me, and I realised I might be able to express myself in a similar way. That was the beginning of my journey into rug design,” Jenny says.
Exploring Turkey’s famous rug markets, she began selecting pieces to bring back to Australia. After returning, Jenny began creating contemporary designs—a concept new to hand-knotted rugs. In 2001, she became one of the first Australian designers to create contemporary hand-knotted rugs, growing alongside the movement toward modern interior design. Jenny was the first Australian to win best contemporary design on the world stage, placing Australia on the map for leading trends in textiles.
Since then, Jenny has built her business on creating personal connections with clients to find the perfect rug for each project. Her contemporary works and modern-day classics reimagined traditional designs, bringing them into the 21st century with sophisticated colours. Nearly 30 years into her career, with collections in the US and Asia and numerous international awards, Jenny is recognised globally as one of the top contemporary rug designers, continuously pushing boundaries with stunning, bespoke designs.

Jenny has a natural flair for colour and design. Early in her career Jenny worked as a buyer for Myer before launching her designer rugs business in 1995. Jenny’s love of travel enables her to stay current with the world fabric, interior and fashion trends. Her design philosophy is one of creating respect for the weavers and sustainable business.
Luke Jones
Managing Director, VIC
Being a son of Jenny’s, Luke has grown up around rugs since Jenny started trading and creating! Luke has a passion for excellent service and continually attains customer satisfaction. He is a creative at heart with an education in interior design and a wealth of experience for helping you select the right rug. Luke manages the JJR brand in Victoria and is the best point of contact on the East Coast of Australia for Jenny Jones.
