Government House Sydney

Her Excellency The Governor of NSW, Margaret Beazley, fell in love with Jenny's unique and beautiful Australian artwork and has commissioned three magnificent masterpieces for the Government House in Sydney, which sits proudly next to the Opera House.

This is a very special honour for Jenny, as she places her heart and soul into each art piece. To be recognised in such a magnificent house where international and corporate guests are entertained and experience our rich Australian History. This is a huge compliment to her artwork. The beautiful interiors really compliment and connect with the Australian Wildflowers so effortlessly as if they were always meant to be together. A contemporary classic look with respect to the past while creating a wonderful future to be enjoyed by all. see the wildflower collection.

Jenny has brought the flowers to life with hand carved pure silk and wool in a stunning layered textural finish. The delicately carved pure silk captures the life and movement of these unique architectural flowers. She placed a crown on one corner of the Australian Banksia and Australian Bottlebrush to honour her Excellency. Jenny goes over each hand-knot like painter, choosing where the colour should be, rubbing out lines, creating layers and depth through what is normally a flat textile. This gives it dimension similar to the Australian bush as you walk through the room.see Australian banksia

They have over 55,000 tourists walk through these rooms each year as well as private functions. These rugs have held up so well they have ordered a third masterpiece from Jenny as everyone is saying they still look like they are new. Buy once, buy well. This art piece would have approximately 3.7 million individual hand-knots. It took 12-14 months to make in the custom size 615 by 950cm.

“Ideally, a beautiful rug in the right colour, size and design should be the foundation of your room. It then becomes the anchor for all the other furnishings. My rugs can be truly transformative and they are created so that they will last for generations.” Jenny Jones
