The Malu rug emerges as a playful nod to the sun-drenched days of the 1960s, a time when longboards and the Beach Boys ruled the scene. Inspired by Jenny Jones’ husband, Dennis, and their shared love of surf culture, Malu is more than a rug—it’s a vibrant celebration of colour, love, and a cherished era. Featured in the October 2023 issue of Living Etc UK, this sorbet-hued designer rug effortlessly adds a pop of personality to any space, making it the perfect partner to Verve Designer Collections' “Summer Vibes” collection by Ian Sanderson.

Malu: A Designer Rug With a Story

Every motif in the Malu rug is as unique as the longboards that inspired its design. Jenny fondly recalls the surf culture that defined her youth, with each hand-carved shape in this rug mirroring the flowing curves of the iconic boards. Hand-knotted in Persian tradition using handspun wool and pure silk, Malu boasts high and low pile heights, offering both texture and depth. The sorbet shades, reminiscent of the outfits Jenny wore during this era—complete with white lipstick—bring a playful, whimsical charm to any room.

A Celebration of Love and Surf Culture

Malú is a heartfelt tribute to Dennis, Jenny's husband and lifelong muse. As a passionate surfer, Dennis’ influence is woven into every fibre of this designer rug. On the couple's 45th wedding anniversary, it feels only fitting to honour the joyful memories they shared during his longboard days.

This designer rug is a nostalgic reminder of a time when life was carefree, the sun was always shining, and the Beach Boys were the soundtrack to their love story.
